India (source : RBI docs), as per survey findings 2003, has only 50% of its population with bank accounts. Only 34% engage in formal banking. Highest number of households (145 million) are excluded from banking and Only 3,0000 villages have commercial bank branch.

Financial Inclusion is the process of ensuring access to appropriate financial products and services needed by all sections of the society in general and vulnerable groups such as weaker sections and low income groups in particular at an affordable cost in a fair and transparent manner by mainstream institutional players.  

Financial literacy is important for the development of an individual, family, nation and the whole world. A financially literate individual can make wise and informed decisions about handling his/her wealth to the utmost benefit.

We, at GRASSroot solutions, aim to facilitate financial inclusion through provision of two essentials : literacy and easy access. 

Financial literacy camps/ workshops are organised across the country provide solutions for

The objective is to disseminate information to various target groups including children, women, rural and urban poor and senior citizens by facilitating financial inclusion through financial literacy. We strive to deliver unbiased and neutral financial knowledge in a simplified manner, and in a language that the target audience can comprehend. Topics covered in these workshops vary from banking, insurance to collective bargaining for farmers. Trainers are employed to conduct literacy workshops. Also women are trained to become financial trainers, thereby creating jobs for men and women seeking flexible assignments and who continue working with GRASSroot Solutions.
